Swimming
Swimming Evening all
This will probably sound vein but im going to centre parcs at the weekend and want to take my son into the pool, my hair is just starting to grow back but im still wearing a wig as im quite conscious of how i look but what do i do when im in the water, i think the chemicals in the water may damage the wig so was thinking about a swim hat or something but dont want to wear one of those horrible rubbery one’s.
Any ideas??
love to you all
Tracey
Hi Tracey
I went to centre parcs in January after having last chemo 1st Nov, it was the first time I went without anything on my head, I looked like I had a very short crew cut. I was a bit self conscious but determined to have a good time with my kids which we did. I think once you get over it initially its not as bad as you think its gonna be and I think it helped me to get over being so self conscious about my hair. I hope you have a great time, sorry I didn’t have any better ideas
Lisa
Thanks Lisa
I know i should just say sod it but absolutely no one has seen my head since i had it shaved off last year, thats how petty i am, my little boy has cerable palsy and i never wanted to frighten him as he’s only used to seeing me with lovely long blonde hair so i never wanted to freak him out, everything with him is routine, so im sort of stuck with needing something.
thanks anyway, looking forward to it.

Be brazen! Hi Tracey
My hair started to grow back around Christmas time. When shopping for New Year sales bargains with my sister, I allowed her to persuade me to dump the hat and/or scarf I would normally wear. I found that my v.v. short hair attracted much less attention than my usual headgear and therefore went about bare-headed after that. I decided that I needed to show off my head/hair with attitude and went to town with lots of eye make-up and jazzy earrings.
Whatever your decision, I suggest you carry it out with conviction. You have nothing to worry about. Just enjoy yourself.
Dilly
Thank you Thanks Dilly,
I know your right, but it will be hard.
thanks anyway

Dear Tracey, like you I’d lovely long hair.I went without my wig as soon as I could and was surprised at the middle aged men trying to come on to me! I’d spent all those years hideing behind my hair! Anyway old habits die hard as I havent had it cut since chemo and its on it’s way back down again.Hope you and your little boy have a lovely time.
Thanks Josyemarie
that was a lovely note. Funny you said that about the men coming onto you because my hairdresser said in the salon she had men coming onto her when her hair was very short and not very long, its def something to think about.
thanks
