been on tamoxifen for 3 months now and some of my fingers have become a bit swollen and achy and also my wrist as well, have any of you had this problem?
Hi Sarah - yes me too. I’ve been on Tamoxifen since last December.
To the extent that it feels like what I would imagine arthritis would feel like. And with me it is not only limited to my hands; the aches and pains affect the soles of my feet and hips as well.
I finished chemo last September (6 FEC) and had 25 rads which finished early March (not forgetting the mastectomy which happened in between!).
When I saw the breast care nurse recently (to initiate reconstruction), she asked me how I was and I said I was feeling not only nauseous, but had aches and pains. She advised that the nausea was more than likely caused by the Tamoxifen, but that the bone and joint aches were more likely attributable to the chemo.
I understand that Arimidex is far more likely to cause aches and pains, so heaven help us if we are switched to that.
thanks for your comments bubbs, i have sore feet as well sometimes, its a bit depressing isnt it as we are only just starting the tamoxifen journey and still such a long way to go!. hopefully the aches, swelling and pain will settle down soon . take care x
