Swollen lymph glands

Swollen lymph glands

Swollen lymph glands Hi all
I have moved this post to this room as it will be better seen here

Breast Cancer Care

My mum had a mastectomy in Sept 05. Has just had a check up and has been told she has swollen lymph glands. Will be having a ultrasound scan on 21.11.06.

Has anyone had the same experience and can give some advise.

They say the cancer she had is not spreadable so they dont think it could be that. She had some lymph nodes removed at the time of the surgery and was told that the cancer had not spread to them.

I would be very grateful for any replies.

Thanks
Chrissie

hi chrissie, my daughter spells her name without the e on the end.
anyway that is irrelavant.
good that they are being cautious, could be lymphatic fluid?
sorry, don’t really know, but hopefully it will be nothing to worry about.

This may help Chrissie,
I developed swollen glands in September and despite 2 courses of
strong medication they did not go down. My Dr referred me back to
the Marsden and I had an ultra sound and ct scan
But it was only a bad infection which has lasted r 3 months.
Your mum’s case may be nothing more than an infection.
I do hope this is so. When dx I also had lumph nodes removed
23 and 15 were cancerous. I had my ultra sound on Nov 11th
and feel a weight lifted from me.
Best Wishes
Kieran

Dear Chrissie
I’ve also posted this on the DCIS forum.

I’m sorry I didn’t see this earlier. I hope by now your mum has the All clear.
In July 2006 I went through a week of hell, after my swollen lymph glands were biopsied. I’d had Mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction in Sept 2005, and as there was nothing in the biopsy, he thinks it was simply that my lymph glands were still reacting to the surgery (and the complications I had)
I do hope all goes well for your mum.
