Just had a phone call to say my op is going to be a week tomorrow & I’m looking forward to not wearing my chicken fillet anymore! Any tips for me re. recovery? My surgeon did say he’d sort out my dog ear on my reconstruction at the same time but I haven’t seen him since August! Do I get to see him before the op (I think he popped to the ward before my mastectomy), will it be in my notes? I’ve been reading so many posts about ladies not qualifying for symmetry I feel very lucky to be offered it & I’m so sorry for people who are losing out x
Hi Guzzy,
I’m sorry you’ve not yet received a response to your post - hopefully one of our members will be along to provide some advice for you soon. In the meantime you might find it useful to take a look at the threads in this area of the forum which may help forum.breastcancercare.org.uk/t5/Recovering-from-treatment/bd-p/4442 .
All the best,

Hi Guzzy
I had two ops last year for symmetry, and am very aware that I’m lucky it is still funded in my area.
I’ve seen several women say they needed two operations as the first didn’t remove enough tissue. But I’m so happy not to wear my partial prosthesis any more, I feel much happier and more confident.
In terms of recovery, i found it is very similar to the WLE. My incision was much larger for the breast reduction, but i didnt have any more pain. You just need to take it easy and not put pressure on yourself to do too much too soon.
I hope all goes well for you, let us know how you get on.
