symptoms of bone mets

Hello,
Are symptoms of bone mets always constant severe pain or can it be a dull ache that comes and goes?

I am coming to the end of active treatment and seeing my oncologist today.

I have some concerns of the back ache i have had. Last year I had acute lower back pain for the first time it was very bad but then eased off after a couple of months with physio and acupuncture helped. A few months later I found a lump and so at the age of 40 I was diagnosed with 4cm, grade 3, IDC, LVI no node involvement .

During chemo i noticed very little back ache but now it seems to be coming back.

My BCN seems unconcerned but I can’t help but feel like it needs investigating.

Has anyone got any experience of not having text book symptoms of secondaries

thankyou x

Hello Silverflute.  if you have any concerns then you should speak to your Onc.  I had bone mets diagnosed straight away - two and a half years ago.  My diagnosis came after a routine mammogram and I had no symptoms at all.  No achey bones anywhere so was surprised to be told that they were in my ribs, upper spine, skull and pelvis. (Though letrozole is doing a good job at keeping them stable)

I know other ladies who had pains which were dismissed by GPs and then on a breast cancer diagnosis were found to be bone mets.

Everyone is different - you may need to persevere but tell your ONC your concerns.

Let us know what he says today.

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis glad things are stable for you though x.
I told my oncologist at our last appointment my concerns but she said she wasnt going to look into anything at this point as was having radiotherapy.
I went to GP today as Im still getting lower back ache but now also lower abdo pain like period paibs/labour pains which i have started taking painkillers for.
He said he thinks its prob just muscular and back ache that’s radiating around to the front.
He is referring me for an ultrasound though but said he is not expecting for it to show anything.
So will wait for appointment.

Hi, I haven’t been on forum for a long time and couldn’t remember how to start a new thread, so here goes, I was diagnosed in Jan 2017 with TNBC Right breast , had lumpectomy and reconstruction, 6 rounds of FEC-T, 15 rads, had left boob reduced, had lots of back and hip pain, had scans all clear, have had several ultra sounds as breast where grump the lump was has developed cysts, back again next week as another one has appeared, I’m really not worried about that as I’m sure it will be another cyst to join the other 3 I have, but here is the question, I have today a very painful collar bone, opposite side to affected breast, very sore to touch and aching shoulder, also been waking up with headaches during the night, hot sweats although I am going through the change they seem to be more frequent, I’m not sure if just to nip to A&E for quick X-ray on collar bone or go to my own Dr, I’m quiet worried as this is very new. Or am I worrying for nothing, also had a burning feeling in left breast although I have felt and no lumps at all, any advice is welcome x
