TACT2 ARM !

I’m just about to embark on the Tact 2 arm 1 trial and would like any advice and how people dealt with this especially the sickness as I dont have a lot of support just now

Hi Joanne,

I was on TACT 2 arm 2 from May to Nov last year. I know its not exactly the same as you as I had accelerated Epi, but thats the only difference. Anyway, I started a thread titled ‘top tips going through chemo’ quite a while ago and loads of other forum users have contributed to it. Check it out when you get a chance, hopefully you will find it as helpful as others have.

Hopefully sickness won’t be a problem for you, particularly if they nail your anti-sickness meds right from the start. Thankfully I was never sick on the chemo, but I did suffer with terrible nausea which I controlled quite nicely with ‘travel bands’.

Check out the top-tips and if there’s anything else you want to know then you know where we are.

I wish you well as you prepare to start chemo,

Take care and keep in touch,

Kelly

thanks princess will check out your tips

Hi TACTERS and especially Joanne
pick us all up on the ‘anyone on TACT 2 trail’ thread for more chats.
I am on exactly the same trial and got arm one too. I had my first epi on 20 May , yesterday and have had no side effects really. I don’t know if it is just me, that the drugs are working well or if it is because we only have one drug, but I am happy to tell you that I feel more or less just the same.I have 7 prescriptions to sort out symptoms and as a bonus they were free as they would have cost a lot. That must be the best benefit of being on a trial and the research nurses are like having another Mum, brilliant.
Keep in touch and ask away if I can help. Around here you will find you just picked up the best support ever

Thanks Lily

I dont start my chemo till the 28th and as I have no support here and attending my appointments myself its good to know that I might not be as bad as I think as I have to fend for myself and the thought of being sick for days terifies me I have tried to sort out as many things I have found on tips so have many prescriptions already.

Fingers crossed I’m as lucky as you

Thanks for the support

Joanne

Joanne,
at every stage I have seen people attending on their own but others always seem to be drawn to them, make a point of smiling or starting a conversation to help it along. I found I kept meeting the same people so it was not hard to get a link with someone. If not the research nurse will be a blessing for you, mine was there at the first one and rang me the next day to check on me and then there is all of us here. I don’t think there are as many people actually being sick as feeling like it. You do need to be proactive if you are though and ask as they have lots of drugs to try. I hope yours will go well too. Try not to get too anxious before you start, get your tummy calm and settled if you can

thanks lily Iam not the worrying type I tend to take things as they come. Iam what they call a gab and will strike up a conversation with anyone helps in my job I love making people laugh so hopefully not have to many problems. I think it will only be if i’m really ill thats there not goning to be anyone there to hold my hand(or wig) while i’m being sick but hey no one said it was going to be easy one day at a time. I’m just grateful for places and people like you.

Thank you

Joanne

Joanne
Thanks that was so nice to read and what a great gab you are to talk to!!
Hold on in there and just enjoy every good day and don’t think too far ahead to the pooo days. On arm one we get quite a lot of good days, hooray.

Had a great day yesterday got more plants for my garden trying to get it all done so I can sit in it when iam feeling crap. Think i’ll give the beechgrove garden a run for its money this year. Cleaned out all my wardrobe today as my mum will probably come over when I’m ill and there certainly things in there I dont want her to see LOL
