Hi all
I wondered if anyone has any advice here. My daughter is 6 and seems to be handling my hospital visits and “be gentle with Mummy” messages well. She knows I have a lump in my booby and that the hospital are helping to make me better but she’s asking 2 questions we’re struggling to answer:
Does anyone have good answers for these two?
Thanks
Tina
Hi Tina
My little girl is also 6 and appears to be handling things very well too. It’s hard trying to explain some things without going into great detail.
My daughter hasn’t really asked about the lump, she’s more interested in inspecting the waste coming out of the drain every day !
She did ask why I had a lump though and I just said that everybody has lumps and bumps sometimes or feels poorly and this was Mummys time to be poorly, but the doctors and nurses have been really clever and taken the lump away. She seems satisfied with this. Rightly or wrongly I’ve also said that I may have to have some medicine a bit later which may make my hair fall out. She was more concerned about the hair loss. Although once I said I might have to choose a wig and she could brush it etc all was fine with the world again !
It is hard as they are too young to be told too much but equally they are not stupid and know things are different.
Good luck with whatever you decide to tell her.
