Just looking to see if anyone has had a similar experience whilst on Tamoxifen. I have been on it since July and apart from this have had no other problems.
What seems to happen it that i start to heave & then I cant stop for ages. This morning to the point of bringing something up ( sorry to be graphic). Its not pleasanr & I am spending to much time in the bathroom with watering eyes from the retching. Also its not too pleasant if it happens at work.
I did phone the Breast Nurse & asked the consultant. BCN said they haddnt heard of such a thing & maybe its an infection that would go away & to see my GP. Quite frankly I know its not that as I had it for nearly 3 months!. Cons said “well it effects people somethimes but you cant come off it !” Cheers for your concern is all I can say.
Anyway I think it may be linked to my monthly cycle ( these didnt stop with Chemo or now on Tamoxifen) but not sure - a friend said it sounds a bit like morning sickness without the baby. ( I know I am not preggers)
Hi you are probably having something similar to morning sickness. I am on Arimidex and have experienced similiar. The changes in your hormone levels can disturb your blood sugar control system. When the blood sugar gets low in some people it can bring on nausea and sickness. The things that help me are: to have a snack before going to sleep (may be some hot milk and a plain biscuit or banana) this means that you are not fasting for so long. Also do not drink strong tea or coffee straight on an empty stomach, the caffiene will also cause problems - try milky and have it with a bit of toast or something.
once your hormones have settled at their new levels this should ease off.
It really does sound like morning sickness, but i’ve been okay on tomaxfen so can help. Hopefully u can get to the bottom of this soon. - have you tried gaviscon last thing at night?
sukes
I was on gaviscon for years for similar symptoms, it really is dangerous to rely on it, my mum’s OH ended up in hospital and critical after supressing a ulcer with gaviscon, then it ruptured. It’s alright for occasional use but not every day.
In my case my problems were partly hormonal and after doing who knows how many drugs I tried homeopathy. Nux Vom is the one for nausea and vomiting and I found it better than the anti-emetics during chemo so you could pop down to boots and get a bottle of Nux Vom 30c. You just suck one whenever you feel like you’re going to wretch, try taking one before you get moving in the morning. It’s only a few quid for a bottle and there’s hundreds of doses in there.
Hope it helps you. I can’t bear to think about how sick I was so I really do sympathise, hope it works for you too.
