Hi,
I’m on Tamoxifen and been on it for a year. My doctor has been monitoring my bloods and liver and there has been a spike. They have diagnosed fatty liver. Not related to alcohol. 180 my score is. Can this turn into cancer?
I am really struggling to lose weight, I dont really drink alcohol. Probably a bottle of red wine a month. If that.
The Serum ALT has ranged from 100 to 181. I have come off Tamoxifen end of January due to the operation and also give my liver a rest but will be going back on it after my operation in a couple of weeks

Hi lamamma
Thank you for your post.
It sounds like you are going through a difficult time worrying about your liver disease, preparing for breast surgery following on from taking tamoxifen and taking a break from it.
It is difficult to say when there are other health issues such as fatty liver disease what is means for you. As the liver disease is not related to alcohol (NAFL) you may find the information provided from the NHS website helpful. It explains about the different stages, things you can do and treatments if you have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Primary liver cancer is different to secondary (metastatic) breast cancer in the liver.
As this is something understandably you are worrying about it would be best to contact your treatment team, breast care nurse or GP and ask your question and talk through your concerns.
Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to additional support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.
The number is 0808 800 6000. If you have hearing or speech difficulties prefix our number with 18001 and the call will go through Relay UK. Our helpline has access to telephone interpreters if language translation is required.
