I started taking tamoxifen on 8th May, over the past couple of months I’ve been slowly but successfully losing weight, now I feel like I want to eat all the time, is this related to the tamoxifen, has anyone else experienced similar?
Hello Lizzielou, just wanted to reply although can’t help I’m afraid, I started Tamoxifen last week and no change to my appetite.
What I have noticed is I feel I have water retention around my belly as feel bloated, but this could be a change in medication wo work with the tamoxifen or the radiotherapy, hopefully it will sort out over the next few weeks.

I’ve been on tamoxifen for 20 months and have put on more than a stone. I didn’t notice that I ate more, I just seemed to put weight on more easily, and find it harder to lose. But I’ve lost half a stone so it can be done. I was also very emotional and a bit fragile in the first few months.
I’ve also seen other women post that they’ve lost their appetite on tamoxifen and are losing weight. I think the truth is probably that this is a drug that messes with your hormones, and particularly at the beginning that can have all sorts of effects.
I found that things settled down, though it took a few months to get used to it. But then we’re all finding the new normal after being diagnosed, it all takes time.
