Hi, I’ve been taking Tamoxifen for the last 17months. During that time I have had lots of the side effects that are expected.
For the last few months I have had back and hip pain, mainly at night. My legs ache constantly through the night, and it can be after a busy day or lazy day.
i contacted my BCN just to mention it to her, and she’s said that I need to see the Oncologist so he can do a bone scan, IF he thinks it’s necessary. Last bone scan was in 2013 after surgery showed Lymph node involvement.
i was assuming this was/is connected to the Tamoxifen, as I’ve already had knee and elbow stiffness while taking Tamoxifen. Was just wandering if anyone else has experienced back/hip pain while on Tamoxifen.
Of course I also realise that it could just be normal wear and teat, although as I’m only 40 I hoped my body would hold out a bit longer ?
Hi Sal, yes I get the lot at times, I’ve been on Tamoxifen since April this year and aches is my main SE, it seems to go between hips, back, etc! my legs get stiff if I sit down for too long and takes a while hobbling about to loosen them up yet I can walk the dog for several miles without issue once I get going, I was warned to expect all this and more so I feel pretty pleased to Only suffer with the aching side! I’m sure alls ok but it’s natural to worry Xx
all these pills cause bone loss leading to possible osteoporosis The pills reduce your reoccurrence chance by a small percentille
but strongly increase your risk of heart disease etc with long term use Please read up on side effects. Go back to your DR for a bone density test
reply to road runner Not saying dont use these drugs if you can tolerate them -take them, My specialist say only 5% reduction in likelyhood of reoccurrence. Why do you think they tell you to take calcium and vit D while taking these pills ?? Please people take what they prescribe I was only relating my experience.
