I am due to start chemo 6 x FEC next friday and i am currently on Tamoxifen which was started after my WLE in feb 2011, because it was not expected that I would have chemo just radiotherapy.
After my appointment with my oncologist and chemo was confirmed i forgot to ask about the tamoxifen. In a panic as usual rang BCN who said stop taking the tamoxifen straight away- I also rang my oncologist spoke to his secretary who checked with the oncologist and he said to stop the day before my chemo starts.
What do i do - has anyone had a similar experience as I am worried that I should stop this tamoxifen at least a week before i start chemo.

Don’t know about stopping before chemo, but was told they don’t mix and not to start until at least 3 weeks after last chemo… not sure how long Tamoxifen stays in bloodstream…

Beardie - hmm, tricky, think I might ring the Onc secretary back and say you had different advice from BCN and who is right and ask for the Onc to ring you? And also maybe ask the BCC helpline how long they think it stays in bloodstream. A while back there were some threads on here about people taking Tamox holidays of up top two weeks for big events when they wanted to be without the SEs, so I guess up to two weeks off it may be possible??? NOt sure tho of course.
