I have been on Tamoxifen for a couple of months now. I developed some dry skin just around my eyes which, whilst not great, was manageable.
I now have 3 patches on my inner wrist, one of them quite large. I realise that this is something I am just going to have to live with, but it is itchy and sore.
Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping on top of it or anything that will help soothe?
Hi @Poddybear - I have suffered for years with eczema/dermatitis on my hands, and I think Tamoxifen has made it worse. You might want to speak to your GP to see if there is something they can prescribe if you have tried regular moisturisers and they haven’t worked. The one I find works best for me is Aveeno, but there are so many on the market it’s a bit of trial and error. I hope you find something, dry/itchy skin is horrible isn’t it. Best wishes Evie xx
Hiyer ! Funnily enough I too had this issue on Tamoxifen (though I wasn’t on it very long and this is going back 5 years now). However, I have developed dry itching dermatitis through the course of menopausal changes, in the same place you refer to - around the eyes and also along the hair line and sometimes across the top of my cheeks. (So, therefore similarly hormonal to the tamoxifen effect). I have tried some hydrocortisone cream, which didn’t work for me, but there are a vast array of suggestions a pharmacist could make or a GP could make which are suitiable for use on the face. I did try quite a few that I had left over from RT - Oddly, in the end, I have found that Burt’s eye cream (with Royal Jelly) seems to work if used night and day for a week or so. Its not a medical cream as such, but thought I’d add it as a recommendation
I know this is an old post, but still useful information.
I was getting really bad, scaly, itching dermatitis or eczema on my hands, and around my eyes and nose. I tried all sorts of creams but it was HRT that eventually cleared it up.
Now that I’m off HRT and on Tamoxifen the eczema is back. It really ages how I look which makes me feel very self-conscious. You are warned against use the strong hydrocortisone cream you get on prescription around your eyes but it is the only thing that really makes any difference (I only do this really sparingly and make sure its not frequently).
I have found that CeraVe works to a degree when it’s mild.
I will try the royal Jelly - thanks for the tip.
