Tamoxifen and nausea relief

Hi I have just started Tamoxifen(on it for two weeks ) and I am feeling very nauseous after 2 days. I am 60 and already been through menopause. I am taking it just before going to bed, but in morning I wake up nauseous and have been sick later.

Is this likely to decrease with time? Should I get anti sickness drugs!? Do people have suggestions for coping?

I am going on a cruise in three weeks for my 40th wedding anniversary and I don’t want to spend if feeling sick!

Suggestions would be appreciated

Hi

I was on Tamoxifen for 3 months, before going to Exemestane (for other reasons). I did have a few bouts of nausea, but never actually sick. That was during the first few weeks and then it passed. I had some other mild side effects….a bit of tummy ache, a couple headaches, water infection. They all passed within a 4 to 6 weeks.

Hope it settles for you, if not I’m sure they can give you something to make it more pleasant.

Have a good holiday x

Morning laineyh,

Have a chat with your breast cancer nurse about how your feeling, nauseous or being sick isnt nice at any time. I was prescribed Metoclopramide tablets(medical name) via the hospital. Not sure if buying over the counter pharmist would be the same, but im sure she will advise you.
As Sal1 mentioned her symptoms did ease after a short while, which is a positive.
Wish you well and hopefully get things sort before your 40th wedding anniversary cruises. Congratulations to you :champagne:

I’ve been on Tamoxifen for about 18 months , having swapped from Anastrozole on which I had horrendous side effects. I have been mostly fine on Tamoxifen but like you I suffered from feeling nauseous most mornings . I drink a large glass of water with a pre and post biotic every morning and don’t tend to eat until about 11am. The sickness was mostly gone after about 3 months but occasionally comes back - usually if I drive early on in the day.
