I was diagnosed with breast for the second time after 11 years in November had op in November was told all cancer removed. Had appointment with oncologist yesterday and will be having radiotherapy in the near future.he has put me on Tamoxifen which I am not happy about voiced all my concerns with him re side effects and as I took Arimdex last time with no problems at all would have prefered to go on this again the thought of going through hot flushes etc again at nearly 70 horrifies me, also in the past have had various womb problems which are a major concern after reading possible side effects paper , it make me think this is a cost thing as I have been told Arimdex is more expensive. Has any one else had a simular experience. Hope to hear some positive news as at the moment I am really anxious .I look forward to hearing from you Love to All x
Did he explain why he prescribed Tamoxifen it is usually only prescribed if you are pre menopause ?I haven’t had too any side effects apart from thinning hair and hot flushes at night, a lot of people find the brand of T has impact on symptoms,Teva being one of the best.
Hi. Tamoxifen is given to post menopausal women who have osteoporosis as it is supposed to be ‘kinder’ to the bones.
I am in my sixties, started with Arimidex and then changed to Tamoxifen after Dexa scan showed I had Osteoporosis in my lower back. There are side effects but seem to ease up a bit when your body gets used to it. I have been on it for 4 years now. I do get achy joints and hot flushes but nothing I can’t cope with. x
