Tamoxifen and thin skin

Hello, I’m 3 years in taking tamoxifen and have noticed a real difference in my skin becoming crepey and thin. Actinic purpura on my forearms and I feel like my skin has aged considerably at an accelerated rate. I was putting it down to sun exposure, and other lifestyle choices in the past, which will have contributed for sure. I’m 58. Otherwise, so far so good with taking Tamoxifen. Has anyone else had this skin issue with Tamoxifen?

To minimize skin thinning caused by tamoxifen, focus on protecting your skin barrier and boosting hydration. Use gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers containing ceramides, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid immediately after bathing. Apply mineral sunscreen daily to prevent UV damage, avoid harsh scrubbing, and consult a dermatologist about safe collagen-supporting topicals like low-strength retinoids.

I’m not on tamoxifen but as tamoxifen puts you into menopause I’d suggest using products aimed at older menopausal skin. I like the Eucerin range and they have an anti pigmentation range which could help.

I personally take collagen and a 50+ multivitamin for women to boost my nutrients. My team have never advised me not to so I’m sticking with it. The nurses here always signpost this website so you can make your own judgement Collagen | Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Hello beenthere2x, thanks for taking the time to post your message. It’s much appreciated.

Hi Bluetit11. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate you taking the time to do so. I’m really trying to ascertain if other ladies have encountered the same concern in a similar way as I’m already using relevant skin care ranges and high SPF etc.
