tamoxifen brands

Hello ladies , I am having difficulty getting my usual APS brand of Tamoxifen , my local chemist has told me it is no longer available. Has anyone else had this problem ? Does anyone know which brand is the same as the APS , eg , does not contain E464 .
Regards LM

Hi
The APS brand is out of production and many pharmacies are using TEVA. By the way, if you are trying to avoid E464, its in APS under hypromellose-the same constituent.:frowning:
I changed to APS from Wockhart as I found the SE’s to be difficult, so here I go again:(
Why dont you speak to your pharmacist for advice on a suitable replacement?
Best of luck
Cathie

thanks for the information Cathie , may I ask which brand you are going to use as APS is out of production ?

Hi there

Just shows how different we all are, I had taken generics for 5 months with not to many side effects then was given APS by a different pharmacy, I felt terrible, so much so I asked for another prescription so I could go back to my original pharmacy and get generics which I am sticking with.

Box of APS going begging in my cupboard.

Best wishes

Jan

ive taken wockhort all the time ( since sept) and ive been fine with these what SE did this brand give others ?

I too was initially prescribed APS, and after too many problems getting it finally agreed to change to Wockhort - but not without concerns. But I have had less side effects than with APS, particularly joint pain. I used to walk like a 90 year old first thing in the morning, and this has almost completely gone.

Julieb - just started on Wockhort last Monday. So far having hot flushes and feeling quite dizzy at times. Also very thirsty, but that might be the radiation I started on Wednesday. Oh the joys.

oh this is bad news im much better on aps
is it deffo going to stop?

I used to be on APS Tamoxifen before switching to Aromasin, and also had very few SEs from APS compared to the other brands, i do know that TEVA pharmaceuticals took over APS well over a yr ago now, and was told at the time after contacting Teva that they may eventually change the name to “TEVA” but it would be the same APS brand just name changed, some pharmacies dont get their Tamoxifen from TEVA,and most pharmacies only supply Wockhart as it is cheaper for them to buy ,but sometimes this is why you cant always get the brand you want , you could also try contacting TEVA to asked if the name has now eventualy been changed and if so see if your pharmacist will supply it.
Hope this helps
Linda

Thankyou ladies for your comments , I will contact Teva as suggested by Linda. Keep on trucking !
