Tamoxifen, Flying and risk of DVT

I have been on Tamoxifen for a year, and am going on a 10 hour flight in a few days time. I know there is an increased risk of DVT with Tamoxifen, so does anyone know if its a good idea to wear compression socks, or is keeping well hydrated and moving about, sufficient precaution?

Thanks

Hi, I have just started taking tamoxifen and when going through all side effects etc my consultant did say that I would need compression tights if I were to go on a flight. She also recommended walking about the plane as much as possible during the flight.
Hope that helps!

Hi Catseye, just to concur really, I’ve been on Tamoxifen for two and a half years and have flown (short haul) a couple of times, but was advised to buy some flight socks (or use those things they give you for surgery if you still have them) and to try to keep moving as much as I could.  Some people are advised to take 1 aspirin before long flights.

Hope you have a good trip.

socks good idea . Also take one asprin day before flying and for next two days. keep moving legs and enjoy your hol xx
