Tamoxifen, heat at night

Hello,

I’ve been on tamoxifen for over a week and after some initial issues feel I’ve started to settle into it (I had to stop hrt and actually think it’s helped give a little back!)

I’m getting a lot of over heating at night and hot flushes but only at night.

Could these settle down or is it worth trying split doses? I’m sleeping well other than that so don’t want to rock the boat.

Hi ive been taking for 5 years and i take at night yes i still get hot flushes at night but not during the day as much husband says in winter i keep him warm but i only can stand a 4 tog duvet even in winter im sure you will soon settle

Hi
Ive also just started taking it (10 days in). The night sweats having been keeping me awake. Few hot flushes in the day. Im hoping they settle down too.

I agree have been taking Tamoxifen for 2 years had other medications for 2 years before that. I still get hot flushes day/night and also sleep with a low tog duvet in the winter.

Ah 10 days here too!

Hoping they settle down. Wouldn’t be an issue if I slept through them but the insomnia is affecting me in the day.

I’m wondering about taking half in the morning and half at night but going to speak to my bc nurse first.

Hi

I have been on Tamoxifen for nearly 2 years and initially had hot flushes day and night. My consultant suggested asking the GP to prescribe two lots of 10mg and take one at night and one in the morning (rather than 1 x 20mg). I still have a few hot flushes but nothing like before, and I sleep better. Definitely worth doing!

Thank you; the BC nurse said I could ask for a liquid version if I decide to try this. Going to persevere for now but definitely something to try if I continue to struggle
