Tamoxifen or going into menopause

Hello fellow amazing ladies, I have been on tamoxifen for 8 months now and am about to turn 50 in a few weeks. My periods used to be heavy and every 23 days and are now still heavy but around 42 days and counting apart. Is this tamoxifen or maybe starting towards menopause. I know its definition is a year without periods. I haven’t had any hormone blood tests and doubt my GP would arrange them. Anyone else experiencing this? I am definitely not complaining, can’t wait to get rid of my periods! :two_hearts::two_hearts:

I think everyone is different .My periods stopped when I started Tamoxifen - I was 51 . They had been quite regular before but getting less predictable and I was definitely in Perimenopause.

Hi @phoenix5 ive been on Tamoxifen for 10 months, i was perimenopausal prior to starting. My periods stopped pretty much straight away. I had a few gynae issues - thickening of the womb lining. My GP asked me to see my oncologist to make sure Tamoxifen is still right for me. Interestingly he said whilst im nearly at a year without periods he said this doesn’t make me menopausal. Tamoxifen is known to supress menstruating, but the only way id know if i am truly menopausal is to have my hormone profile checked over a few months. This side effects of the lining thickening is common, and he wasnt worried about it at all, So for now he’s happy for me to stay on it as generally ive been okay on it.
