Hi!
Can I just say, I’ve been looking at this forum since I was first diagnosed 2 years ago. It’s been invaluable, so thanks to all that contribute.
I have tried everything , and I mean everything to try and alleviate the amount of hot flushes and night sweats. Nothing seems to make much difference. Although I’ve just returned from Italy and I didn’t have one night sweat, very odd, I wish I knew why.
Anyway , I’m rambling! The reason for the post was to share something that I’m finding invaluable. It’s a portable fan, but not one of little ones. It’s approx 11ins, has two speeds, is rechargeable (the charge lasting 4-6hrs). I carry it around the house, the garden and I even take to friends and families houses! I love it so much I’ve just bought another one from Ebay (£20).
Hope it helps someone else, especially if you’re like me and having loads of flushes.
Lots of love

Hi Paula,
Have you tried a Chillow for the sweats, I bought one whilst on chemo and it worked a treat. X
Hi , I’ve been on tamoxifen for 2 half years now and also had ovaries removed in January, the past few months have been horrendous with continuous sweats . Eventually I went to doctors as was fed up with arms sticking to desk at work ! Doctor spoke to oncologist and I was prescribed megace. What a difference. Sweats are few and far between and an added bonus is that I no longer have any joint or general bone pain.
Sorry I kind of rambled in there but it is so nice to feel human again and I even felt cold last night!!!
Hi Paula, I’d be grateful if you could post how you get on as I’ve not seen it mentioned here before. My understanding is that it’s still a hormone treatment but progesterone rather than oestrogen . I’ve only been in it for 3 weeks now but it does seem to be doing the trick.
Good luck x
hi i don,t know if you have tryed this but i brought some peppermint oil from the herbalist not the tablets but the oil in a little bottle what you do is get a empty spray bottle any will do clean it out of course put 5 fluid oz of water and about 15 drops of oil spray it on the back of your neck and if a flush comes on later even though you have sprayed it early spary on your neck again and your chest it works like a charm dont, use to much though or you could feel to cool yes its true mine were horrendous especailly with the summer we have had but i felt a flush coming on and spraye d it on my neck and it didn, t happen now i feel nice and cool i would highly recomend this and it won,t interfer with any medications your taking hope this helps all you ladies on here
