Hi, I’m Scobie. Im new to this website, and I’d love some feedback regarding your experiences of the side-effects of Tamoxifen. I was diagnosed with BC in December, and started Tamoxifen then. However, I began to have bad headaches 8 weeks ago, and the doctor is loathe to change my tablets…has anyone else experienced this same side-effect? Hope to hear your thoughts!
Many thanks
Hi Scobie. I too was dx in December and started tamoxifen 10 weeks ago. I am definitely more “headachey” than before. I had a migraine about a month ago that lasted 3 days and I’ve never had one last that long before. I am also suffering from fatigue, which is the worst thing for me, as I’m usually very active. There are a number of testimonials on here that say changing brand of tamoxifen can help with side-effects. The favourite one seems to be Nolvadex. Apparently different brands seem to have different ingredients in the coating etc, so switching can make a difference if you’re sensitive to a particular ingredient. Doctors can be resistant to changing brands though, as apparently Nolvadex costs considerably more than the generic!
