Hi ladies!
just wondering if their are anyone on this support network who is currently on Kadcyla?
Been told it’s a new hormone therapy drug being used in my case instead of the standard herceptin. I had surgery (Lumpectomy) the beginning of the month and unfortunately I didn’t get clear margins so next step is mastectomy and as their was traces in my nodes I have been advised that this is the best hormone drug but only just been given the go ahead to be funded by the NHS.
As this treatment has a element of chemotherapy in the make up the symptoms list is extensive and didn’t know is anyone currently on it could let me know how you are coping??

Hey!
I and at least one other are on Kadcyla for primary BC which is apparently a very recent use for it. Because of this I am a bit unclear as to what it classifies as - I didn’t think it is Hormone Therapy. Herceptin is deemed a Targeted Therapy but Kadcyla has a chemo element to it as well. *shrugs*
Anyway I digress. I just had my third cycle of Kadcyla yesterday and I think I’m doing okay on it. I do have some peripheral neuropathy in fingers and toes but that may be from previous chemo, surgery or radiotherapy. I bundle up against the UV rays on sunny days as I think they give me a bad reaction. As with all of these treatments - keep well hydrated.
Let us know how you go

Hi
I am new to the forum ,
I am due to start adjuvant Kadcyla infusions x 14 following primary HER2 + . During my chemo and radiotherapy I was able to work from home but now need to return to the work place . I just wondered how anyone was finding any side effects.
Thank you .

Hi Minnie,
Wow you must be super strong to work during chemo and radiotherapy. I am also Her2+, ER+ early stage BC patient currently undergoing the adjuvant Kadcyla treatment. I have had the 10th dose yesterday so a bit queasy right now.
For me Compared to chemo and rads Anti Hormonal Treatment is relatively smoother but with slight nausea, stomach issues. I do have joints pain and muscular pain, back ache but I think that’s due to the combination of Radiation plus Anastrazole(a pill) I’m supposed to take up till 10years) and Zoladex( injections) I get every 4 weeks. Some days I’m totally exhausted and the fatigue simply is too much to cope up while other days it’s better. But I do push myself to keep going for the daily chores as I have 2 toddlers so I have my hands full. Hope this helps!
I’m sure it would be manageable for you but try talking to your boss about your situation and if you can work in a hybrid model few days remotely while other days onsite.
Take Care,
Regards,
Dimpled.
