Tattoo query

Hi, I have very recently been diagnosed with stage 3breast cancer. I have not yet started treatment for cancer.
I am due to have a tattoo done this weekend for my dad, who I lost 8 months ago. I am heavily tattooed already and have never had any issues post tattoo. Can you advise if i should be postponing it? I didn’t want to, incase I can never get it once treatment starts :slightly_frowning_face:xo

Hello sam3

It is understandable that you would want to get your tattoo for your dad done before you start breast cancer treatment.

It is good to read you have never had any problems with previous tattoos. Usually if the procedure is performed in a hygienic manner with good aftercare there is little risk of infection or allergy.

However, it’s important to speak to your surgeon or breast cancer nurse to check if they have any concerns about the impact having a tattoo at this time might have on any planned breast surgery or other treatment. They can then advise you on when the best time would be to have your tattoo.

Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions.
