Tattoo

hi all,

I feel really daft asking this in case i get told off but here goes, back in Feb i had a Free TRAM flap reconstruction so i have a big scar on my tummy, i have always wanted to get a small tattoo in memory of my dad who died of cancer and i want to have it done on the part of my belly thats numb (because im a baby and dont want to feel anything), it will be higher up than the scar but is this allowed or is there a health risk.

many thanks

Tracey

Hi Tracy
actually I don’t think you are daft at all! I don’t know the answer but would be interested as I have secretly toyed with the idea of getting a tattoo of the BC ribbon on my ankle so hopefully we will get a reply! you could always ask your BC nurse.

hiya

thanks for your support, yours sounds wonderful, go for it, i bet you’d be the first to have that done.
If i dont get any reply’s then I will wait until I see my consultant in the next couple of weeks, no doubt he will try and put me off.

You may be surprised! let us know what they say. x

yah, the onc said i could have it done but the nurse wanted me to speak to my surgeon first but im going to take the onc answer, he looked at me as though i as mad and the nurse tried to talk me out of it, because she is older and wiser and im still young at 37 and obviously cant make grown up decisions, ha ha.

I have always been against tattoos but I have become a rebel [and I’m older and wiser than you!] I may just do it! good luck. Rx

Hi Girls

Did either of you have the tattoo done?

I do like the idea of the pink ribbon, and am quite tempted.
My OH is against tattoo’s full stop, but I feel like being a bit of a rebel too.

Can you let me know.
I have finished treatment in June and am just on Zoladex at the mo.

People have told me it hurts to have a tattoo, but can it compare to what we have just been through??

Take care

Hi Angie,

I had a largish tattoo done 10 years ago. It doesn’t hurt that much. I had mine done when I had PMT so at that time of the month nothing can hurt me as I can be moody etc and feel no pain- and take no prisoners! I am also thinking about having the ribbon done. Let us know if you go ahead with it- be a rebel!

Hi there

no still not had it done but im pretty sure i will. I was going to be a baby and have it either done on a numb part of my belly or im not sure if this would work but im due to have zoladex next week and im going to ask for that anestetic cream before they do the injections and thought maybe i could use that before having a tattoo?
