Taxotere and Acne!

I had my first dose of chemo on 22nd July and have come out in acne! Has this happened to anyone else on taxotere? I have also ended up with soreness up my nose and around my mouth. I thought I would be able to cope with chemo but Im having a bad day today and really worried because its only my first one and am begining to think I can’t do it! On Thursday I had to go back to the hospital because of a sore throat, had my bloods taken and my neut count was 1.3, so am on antibiotics. I am also concerned that because my count was 1.3 and its only my first chemo will this affect future treaments? Just feeling a bit sorry for myself today and finding it hard to smile!

It started with fec for me, round my mouth and down my next. It’s the steroids, the leaflet in the pack explains a bit more.
The nose and mouth will be sore from the chemo. Talk to your oncy and they can give you some Difflam to have a slosh with :o)

It it helps, my counts were low first fec and then first tax. Spend three days in isolation with it.

You can do it, and you will. It’ll be a memory before you know it.

I haven’t had spots or a sore mouth. What I have had is very very dry nasal lining which bleeds easily and clogs up. Nasty stuff and uncomfortable.

As for Tax, I’ve had a horrendous time with SEs on both TAX, EC was easy for me, Tax has kicked my behind. Only 1 more to go!
Bear with Tax no matter what, because it’s the gold standard chemo and is brilliant at shrinking tumours and getting micro cells. It’s worth any misery you have with it, it just doesn’t feel like it at the time.

Thank you both for sharing your SE’s with me and how I can deal with some of them. Does the acne go away? or does it stay? I didn’t realise that taxotere was gold standard treament, will add that to my positive thoughts!

The spots stayed with me, but after the first crop they were no more than just spots, not a rash or anything.

Tax is a relativly new chemo, third generation. It’s not the best for se’s, but you just have to think on a little bit.

Hi hope you soon feel better I started my first chemo yesterday my onc advised starting on AC as he said that was slightly easier to tolerate but he intends to move me to TAX after three sessions of AC if I am not getting the best response. Apparently TAX is very good but is a heavy duty chemo which does give much more side effects still if it does the job we will just have to grin and bear it… or so they tell me…

I’ve had my first Chemo session 8 days ago; I’m on EPI and then CMF; but for the last 3 day’s I’ve developed white heads all over my scalp, inside my ears, on my face, on and in my nose and even on my eyelids. I called Clatterbridge about this and they were particularly suprised as you dont get this side effect from EPI they told me. I’m on anitbiotics for my skin now but it’s incredibly sore on my scalp. I’m using calamine lotion to ease it but I just need to know when it will go away, as I’m already feeling pretty rubbish! :frowning:

hi. I had 6 tax didnt get acne as such, but found I would get massive boil like lumps on my head, and neck, they were very sore and went after about 1 week,
my scalp was sore in patches where my hair started coming out at first, this soreness went away after a while.

hope this helps, Liz x
