Taxotere ( docetaxel) alone ?

Hi is anybody receiving taxotere (decotaxel) alone without the FEC? I will be receiving 4 cycles 3 weekly. I was originally going to have FEC but with the heart scan results being just below what they like it to be they changed it to Taxotere and starting Herceptin with the second cycle. I am 62. I had a grade 2 lump 18mm hormone - HER+. No lymph nodes involved, with vascular invasion. I am very worried that this treatment won’t be as effective as the FEC and everybody else seems to be having more ? Thank you for any replies x

Hi there I’m having docetaxol with carboplatin 6 cycles along with Herceptin , just had 5 th, no FEC for me either due to underlying palpitations, I think it’s s very effective treatment so try not to worry, I think they tailor make the regime to suit individual circumstances and want to ensure you get the best possible treatment without compromising your health in other areas. Hope this helps and good luck , sorry you are here but you will find tremendous support in this forum, have you tried joining the February chemotherapy thread? All the ladies on there have started this month, it’s good to hop to other threads too so you can get some ideas from those a bit further down the road xx
Take care
Lesley

Thank you very much for the reply Lesley. I am not receiving carboplatin either not sure why? I will join the February starters thanks for recommending x

Febstarter Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I have come across people who just had tax, but it might be worth asking them. Do you have a breast cancer nurse you can call or e-mail? If not, just write it down somewhere so you can ask at your next appt. All the best for your chemo x

Thank you Bibi44, good to know you have come across others who just had the Tax. I will ask at my appointment next week, thanks again x

Hi febstarter, I am a bit behind joining this thread, but just wanted to find out how you are getting on with the docetaxel, my mum has just started it on its own. She had three doses of pacetaxel but it had to be stopped because she kept getting bad reactions. She had her first decetaxel three days ago and has just spent the night in hospital due to high temp and breathing difficulies, its very worrying because she is 78. I just wanted to find out if anyone else has had the same problems, hope you are doing well x
