So sorry you’re suffering - Tax is a right yukky thing and causes all sorts of side effects. I had regular sessions of acupuncture which really helped with the pain - worth a try. My chemo nurse suggested taking Paracetemol and Ibuprofen regularly throughout the day, three time sfor one and four times for the other, so I was doubling up on the pain relief, this also helped. The pain does go and you’ll feel less horrible soon. Do whatever your body is telling you, so if you need to rest, then try to as much as you can, though not always easy if you have a family. All the best xx

Hi there,

Yep I had it too!! Took co-codamol. Then paracetamol. I found it got better as each chemo went on. Just bear in mind constipation when taking pain killers!!!

All the best

Hi there

I am afraid taxotere is a bit hard on the old body. I had my last one nearly four weeks ago and still a bit achy but its getting better every day.

I didnt take anything because constipation to me is the worst pain you can get. Only consolation is that taxotere is rolls royce of chemo and hopefully working its magic on the cancer.

I have spent a lot of time lying down and sleeping and thats really what you have to do. Hubby has been very helpful but my house is a tip and my kids have had a lot of ‘ping’ dinners. However, i am not going to worry about it and neither should you.

Only very good tip i can offer is hot water bottles or microvave pads on muscles, they really do help.

Hello

2 and 3 day in my first round i did have some " notorious " pains specially to my legs and body muscles. I took advil and my pains went awy after the 5 th day …
I suggest to drink at list 3 liters of water daily to get off the toxic from yr body, believe me it helps…

And pls dear Sister say to yr self : you are able to overcome this…

Blessings and friendly wishes from Istanbul

Thank you so much.
I rang the chemo nurse today whom recommended co codamol. Its not even going near the pain,i have some tramadol here she says to use as a very last resort,im afraid its going to have to be.Its scarey stuff isnt it,like u say tho if its hurting in muscles i didnt even know i had then thank goodness what its doing to the cancer!
no pain no gain !!
drank 2 litres of water today,my mouth still feels like the morning after a night on the lash lol.

Hi Ladies,

Same here with the scummy mouth. I had my first Tax yesterday and straight away have a constant smell of chemicals in my mouth. Feel as though it’s coming out of my pores too. I drank loads of water with FEC and it really helped. So far it hasn’t done the same for Tax. Fingers crossed, I haven’t so far got the pains. I start on the Filgrastim injections for marrow boosting tomorrow though and they always give me terrible pain. Hopefully the Tax won’t pile on the agony at the same time. Aaaagh it really sucks sometimes.

This has been a really bad few days for me and the big C. My friend’s mother died of lung cancer yesterday, my own mother has just been told she has a brain secondary to her lung cancer and I just found out about Shellyface. Sometimes I just wonder how we do it… but we all manage.

Sorry, this is a bit of a rant for me.

I was prescribed co codamol and voltarol[diclofenac]to be taken at the same time.It really really worked for me.

Hiya

I had a really horrid time on taxotere too. The pain was awful and I ran really high trmperatures (39C at one stage), but I got through it and you can too!I had girls aged 4 and 2 at the time, but was lucky in that I had somewhere I could go and just lay on a bed and not do anything for a few hours a day. I couldn’t bear the tv on or anything.

My 2nd dose of taxotere was reduced by 10% and it was not so bad. For the last dose I had the same as 2nd, but the side effects were hideous again, but only for a few days and then I started feeling better.

One silver lining for me was that my hair, which had fallen out on FEC, started to grow back on taxotere.

Know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and that what you are having is regarded as the gold standard.

Good luck, and always come on here for support, it really helps get you through it.

I was fine for the first forty-eight hours with the tax, then it hit me like a tone of bricks - have slept almost continually since Thursday afternoon! Not too achy or dodgy tums, just that I’m finding it really difficult to make myself eat anything - I have now lost almost two stone since Xmas (don’t think I’ll be selling my diet tips to Hello, though!) Having strawberries and icecream for tea, with a strawberry flavoured protein drink - hope that’ll keep me going.

I HAVE BEEN SUFFERING WITH THE MUSCLE PAIN
DOES IT EVER GO AWAY ?

it does go lynn, ive had my 2nd tax since i posted this and it werent so bad, this time round it was eyes nose and mouth haha xxx
