Hi my cousin is on 3 x FEC and 3 x Taxotere, she has just had her first Tax and had a bad allergic reaction. As I didnt have this regime can anyone tell me if leg, neck ache is common and she also feels as if her glands on her neck have swelled? Does it go into the nodes and gland areas?

Did your cousin have the white-cell-stimulating injection after her tax? If she did, this may be the cause of her aches and swollen glands - I certainly had swollen glands in my neck after the injections and lots of aches and pains in my pelvis, legs, back - most places actually!

Thank you Katie for your reply. I will assume that she had the white cell booster as I think that it is par for the course with this chemo? I will mention this to her tomorrow as she was pretty upset tonight and not to mention frightened…It seems as all her glands are swelled everywhere and this is her down day and I know that on the 3rd day I was always feeling pretty low.

I had Tax but no cell boosters… I got sore bones, aches and pains everywhere, feels a bit like you’re coming down with flu…It wears of after a few days…if she mentions this to her team before next chemo they’ll advise her about a pain killer she can take till it eases…

Yes, I finished my chemo 10 days ago, had 6 tax altogether, and have started to feel ok since yesterday, with no funny taste in my mouth, no cravings, no diarrhoea, and am generally feeling ok :-), just lots of palpitations still, which im going to se my GP about this week.
I hope your cousin starts to feel ok soon, the days when we feel low, can be long, slow, lonely days.

I too had the same regime, 3 FEC and 3 TAX and have just had the last Tax a week ago. I get all those symptoms, glands, cracked mouth, Nose running and bleeding, aches, even shivers when a bit cold. It all seems like a bad case of flu. Taste is disgusting, everything tastes like cold tea! But it should only last about 10 days. I took Iboprofin and that helped, got some cream from doc for the cracked mouth, and use mouth washes.
Plenty of water too.
Enjoy the 3rd week and soon be over. Keep well.
