I have HER2 Positive, Paget’s and 1 definite node with some smaller funny looking ones behind it. I’m currently having chemo before a mastectomy and full node clearance.
My CT scan at diagnosis showed 2 tiny liver cysts and a larger cyst on my pancreas, which they think are not significant.
However, they have organised a repeat CT scan in December.
Has anyome else had a repeat CT scan for cysts? I’m particularly worried about the liver cysts, as I understand HER2 Positive breast cancer will often metastasise in the liver. If all or any of the cysts have disappeared on the repeat CT scan after chemo, does this mean they were actually cancer mets after all?
I know I need to ask my oncologist, which I will do next week as I have an appointment. But I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience?
I can’t comment on liver cysts specifically but I do know that anything even vaguely different on scans once you have had breast cancer is looked at very carefully . Often it will turn out to be nothing to worry about but it’s scares the out of you . Hoping you are out out of your misery soon and get good news .
Hi @dilly, I have a large 8x6cm liver cyst and some more on my kidneys. The liver cyst has been there since before my cancer diagnosis in 2023. All my liver function tests are normal and no-one is concerned. However I understand your worries. You can always ask your GP for a referral to Hepatology if you are worried. I have no experience of pancreatic cysts. X
Hi I understand your worry as I had the same issue with liver cysts. I also had a repeat CT scan when first diagnosed with Secondary BC in 2023. They have been monitoring them since but no change, so oncologist happy!
Take care
Thank you @carols89, have they established if yours are definitely cysts? Mine are tiny and they ‘think’ they are cysts. If you had chemo, did that affect them at all?
I had a massive weep on my poor husband today, I’m so scared.
Mine are definitely cysts. Like you, they ‘thought’ mine were cysts but CT scan confirmed they were. They always make notes on them at every CT scan but it is good that they are monitoring it. That’s a positive.
I am aslo HER2 positive. I am on oral chemo Palbociclib & that hasn’t changed the cysts.
In our situation, we always think the worst, but hopefully the reality is better than our worst fears. Be kind to yourself. What you are feeling is totally normal on the roller coaster ride, that none of wanted to join. A good cry often helps.
Big hugs
