Thank You gifts for family and friends

I am reaching the end of my active treatment and I wanted to give a little *something* to all those who have been there for me this year, giving me their everything. The problem is… I’m failing to find a nice enough something. Did you do anything special for your OH, close relatives and close friends when you were done with treatment? I’ve gone out for dinner with them to celebrate, but I feel like giving some extra recognition in some way, also cause I got so many material gifts from all of them this year. Any ideas? Help, please. Thanks!

Hi Carmy,
Why dont you send a private message to Pestering Pixie. She was making ‘happy bags’ to raise money for cancer research.
What is a happy bag I hear you ask?
Its a pink or purple bag filled with tiny objects ie a bear, for when you need a hug, a coin, so you never run out of money, an eraser, to rub out any mistakes. There are others, I cant remember what they are though.
This would be both a nice way to say thank you (and inexpensive) and you would be helping to raise money for cancer research.

Hi

I added a comment earlier about happy bags & it disappeared. I gave them to my close friends who had supported me during surgery & chemo. Everyone loved them & the proceeds are for a great cause. If you google Pixies Happy Bags you will find the site & you can find Pixie on the April thread.

Agree with Rattles they are great little gifts.

Hi Carmy,
I’m planning a ‘finishing’ party for all the people who have helped and supported me at a local pub. I’ll provide food, drinks and a band so everyone can have some well deserved fun xxxx

Hi all
After all my treatment was over (though was still on Herceptin) I had a ‘new chapter’ party! I invited all my family and special friends who had been there for me and made quite an emotional speech of thank you’s. I provide entertainment (my daugther and her friends sang and played musical instruments and i had a buffet, fireworks and a seventies theme well into the next day. I bought a new wig to disclose on the evening and had a fabulous time showing appreciation for all the wonderful people i hadn’t really appreciated enough. A new start shared with special people. A fabulous night that I will never ever forget. A gift of love shared among special people. It was the talk of work, home and beyond for a long time and is still referred to often. Whatever you do I am sure you and they will enjoy it. You deserve it! Jayne.

PS I should have mentioned that at my party I launched my ‘book’ - diary of my breast cancer experience which I self published on lulu.com and ultimately raised £500 for Breast Cancer Research from selling it for any donations willing to be donated. My book continues to do its rounds to help people read of my experience when they are going through thier own nightmare of diagnosis and treatment. Best wishes all. J.
