I just wanted to post a quick note to say thank you to everyone who has responded to my posts with support and encouragement. It meant a lot to have people who understood what I was going through there to lend an ear.
My appointment at the clinic went really well this morning (for anyone nervous about going I have to tell you they were so lovely at the clinic, really helpful and friendly). I had a breast exam and an ultrasound and they confirmed that my lump was a cyst. A doctor drained it there and then (youchy!) and it’s completely gone now. They did advise that cyst can reoccur so to be on the look out but have discharged me from the service today.
I’m soooo relieved, after a week of worrying about the worst.
Thank you again for all your support and I wish the best of luck to anyone waiting for diagnosis or undergoing treatment.
Hi, I can also report good new - I had my appointment at Rotherham this morning which I have now found out is a “one stop” clinic. I was examined first, and then had a LONG wait for Mamogram and Ultrasound. The doctor did say during the examination it was nothing to worry about, and I assume they do the other tests anyway as a matter of course. The mamogram was a little uncomfortable. during the Ultrasound the Doctor said it a simple cyst and did I want it draining, to which I answered yes please. To be honest i didnt feel a thing but watched the cyst disappear on screen. Obviously I was relieved as yesterday we received a phone call to tell us an ex colleague of my husband had died the night before at 39 after a 4 year battle with Breast Cancer. Although I feel like I won the lottery today, my heart goes out to everyone here who is suffering with Breast Cancer and can only say I have three friends who are living proof of beating breast cancer.
