Hi,
I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the ladies on here who post supportive messages. I have just lived through the most worrying month ever, and fortunately got the all clear yesterday (fibroademona, though still to be confirmed by biopsy, though doctors are not worried). The biggest comfort to me has been reading the posts on this forum. Which was more than I got from my GP who, when confronted with a worried, weeping me, cheerfully informed me that ‘12% of women get breast cancer’, missed the large fibroadenoma that was near the small lump I was worried about, and sent me on my way with the grim reaper hanging over me! I then had to go through the ‘choose and book’ system (choices arrived a week after my initial appointment) and a further 3 week wait for my breast clinic appointment. This site kept me sane during that month I can tell you!
For anyone who is still waiting, these ladies are right when they tell you the waiting is the worst. After reading what some people have to deal with, I felt I could cope (reasonably well) with any diagnosis. And it was only from reading info on this site that I knew what the nice ultrasound man was on about!
Finally, (sorry, this is starting to feel like an Oscar speech) trying to self diagnose by poking at your lump every day really doesn’t help. I went through every type of cancer/disease possible and my eventual diagnosis wasn’t even on my list!!
Good luck to everyone x
