Hi My name is Sandra
just been recently Diagnosed, went for my mammogram 4 weeks ago then recall as there was something suspicious, other mammogram and biopsy taken and marker put in , 11mm lump , that was a week ago i have my consultation to day to discuss what happens next…
Anxious but this forum has helped me with reading everyone’s journey … so thank you for sharing and helping others…
good luck to all and try stay positive xx
Hi @macnicos welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of support here whatever your journey turns out to be. I too was recalled from a routine mammogram to be told that I had a 9mm IDC which was non-palpable. On removal it turned out to be 15mm as there was some low grade DCIS in the mix. That was almost three years ago and I am doing fine, which I’m sure that you will be in due course.
I do hope that today’s appointment gives you clarity on what your treatment plan will be and also give you a sense of control over the situation knowing what path you will now have to tread. It’s hard to take it all in so even if you are taking someone with you, it might be worth asking if you can record the conversation on your phone so that you can make sure that you don’t forget anything that was said. If you have any questions after the appointment and you can’t immediately get through to your allocated BC nurse, feel free to call the our nurses on 0808 800 6000 between 9am- 4pm for a chat.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Thank you so much, that’s a good idea i will ask if i can record x
Hi macnicos
I had a similar experience and was recalled after my first mammogram. This really is the worst time in the whole process because of all the anxiety and uncertainty. Once you have seen your consultant you will know what you are dealing with and that helps.
I agree with Tigress do take someone with you because you won’t remember everything that has been said. My husband was with me and I was so out of it the consultant started talking to him as she realised I wasn’t processing.
Take things a day at a time, you will get through this and will be very well looked after. Lean on the BC nurses, they’re amazing. I couldn’t have got through without them. They are a wonderful source of information, and reassurance.
Three years on I’m also doing well and my life has pretty much returned to normal.
All the best x
