EmilyJane, my friend suggested yesterday that in order for me to get through radiotherapy that i should attempt to make friends with the machine. she said it worked for her when she mentally made friends with her temporary colostomy bag! So today as the machine buzzed and whirred above me, I looked up at it and smiled. It even has a face, kind of… and so I decided to call him Ray! So that’s it really, it just gave me a different outlook as I realised that Ray is doing his best for me when all’s said and done. Now… all I need to do next is find a way to make friends with the Arimidex tablets, then the herceptin… gulp… i can’t even bear to think of the long road ahead, top me up will you barman/Jennifer and whatever Tiddler’s having.

Any karaoke?
I have insomnia so it’s gonna be a loooooong night.
Do you think prune juice tastes good with a drop of bacardi in?? (Just had another mastectomy and those codeine tabs make me a bit - ahem - bunged up!)
But it won’t stop me partying – let’s boogie on down!!!
sets up glass with large swish of bacardi – and some liquified prunes…
ready for you girl
music is drifting through the background…sizzling mushrooms and hot brie are delectable…
any special songs?
sipping rum…
sees no one around…
closes up the bar for the night…
oh well, it was fun!
is it open today yet i already need double bacardi and coke!!!
Annamarie -
well, all I can say is that the little splash of rum in ginger ale I tried last night felt very good – since I don’t drink much (meds) even a little goes a long way! You guys are corrupting me…
since we are all over the map – and in diff time zones – the bar can be manned (womanned?) 24x7 with a rotating bartender…would do you think? it is fantasy, but fun…

OK Emily, line 'em up, am just back from radiotherapy so please forgive the slight glow i have about me! Oh and some devilled eggs would be nice (what are devilled eggs by the way?!). Think Jennifer has given you the longest shift in the world but glad to see you’re still managing the bar.
So, today I got zapped for the 9th time and Ray was in good spirits, whirring and buzzing, doing his thing. No music today though so instead i decided to hum a little tune for Ray and myself and when the nurses had finished manoevering me with their freezing cold hands, i even had a little sing! Then I remembered that they could see me on their cameras. Surprised they didn’t have a straight jacket waiting for me when i got off the bed.
So then i decided to go and treat myself to a new dress for my friend’s wedding… first dress, lovely, but very pretty and maybe too pretty for me. Sales Asst said it might look better without the headscarf. I told her I would remove the headscarf but was afraid I’d scare the horses… think she got my drift. Second dress in and I get stuck… couldn’t pull the dress down over radioactive breast as it’s slightly swollen at moment! had to call assistant in. Then she definitely had got the drift. All a bit embarrassing but I laughed on the drive home and imagined a huge glass of cool chablis waiting for me… so… where is it?!

p.s. i love the fact nurses and doctors are barred!
