Is anyone else looking forward to the end of 2007…??
I was diagnosed on 2nd January 2007 and since then I have had 6 x FEC, a short illness, my mastectomy removing a 10cm tumour, ANC and now I have had 5 Taxotere/Herceptin and I am due the last TAX on Friday and I can’t wait.
I only have 9 months of herceptin and 6 weeks of radio, 18 months of Zoladex, 4 years of Tamoxafen to go - but I really think the worst of it is over!
It has been the hardest year of my life - so I am really going to celebrate my 40th on 21st December!
My consolation is that the memory of pain is never as bad as the actual pain and I have learnt how much my family loves me and who my true friends are!!!
Keep fighting everyone and there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Phardy
Good grief, you have been through the mill…And you have weathered it. Good for you. I was diagnosed in June. Have had a mastectomy and 5 out of 6 FEC/Tax. I have ANC and rads to look forward to and then the Tamoxifen and so on. Sometimes, this feels unbearable - a never ending tunnel of treatments. And so, wonderful to hear from you Phardy as you come to the end of this year. Forward! And yes, great to hang on to the love that you’ve discovered this year - I’ve made that discovery too. This is a bloody horrible devastating disease but there is good in the world…

Yes, I too am looking forward to the end of 2007! The term life begins at 40 really annoys me now, (LOL) ie since turning 40 nearly 5 years ago I was made redundant after 20 years in same job, and then my BC diagnosed earlier in April. Nevertheless, I am now through the treatment almost, just 4 rads to go this week, and of course tamoxifen. Like you say you really find out who your friends are and appreciate how important your family, friends and good health is, and in my opinion what more can you ask for ?
I am looking forward to christmas now, as that is the light at end of my “journey”. Roll on !
I hope you have a really fantastic 40th, enjoy !!
Love Diane x
Just a quick note to congratulate you on getting through this terrible year.
You have got through the biggest battle you will ever have to fight and like me feel very positive which i think keeps us all going.
Hope you have a lovely 40th Birthday I’m sure you will with your wonderful family around you, it does really make you appreciate them i know what you mean.
Cant blame you for wanting this year to be over. Im yet to start my treatment was diagnosed on the 26th October and im just waiting for date for op. Hopefull just a lumpectomy and possible rads. Have a 3cm lump. Its goo to hear from someone whos been through as much as you and is now coming through the other side.
Lump found in April, Mastectomy in May, Chemo Started in July and last session due New Years Eve. Hoping no delays as definately want it over in 2007 so 2008 can be my recovery year on the road back to health and fitness, months of feeling S*** lying on the sofa has not helped my fitness levels!! LOL Need to start slowly walking round block with dogs and build up.
Yes it’s been a memorable year for all the wrong reasons. Diagnosed Friday 13th April, WLE on 21st. Chemo from mid June. Blood clot caused by PICC line July. Severe neutropenia and infection early Sept - so bad that finished chemo after 4 sessions not 6. Started 30 rads in Oct, 8 to go now. Will start Herceptin next week and am on Arimidex for 5 years. I hope for a better 2008!!
