Hello, this is my first post and just wanted to share my situation and see if anyone else is at the same place as me?
I started having pain in my left breast about a month ago and it has slowly got stronger and more frequent over the last few weeks, the pain is quite hard to describe as its a constant nagging that I’m aware of that sometimes gets stronger, it can range in location from my armpit to under the nipple, I have always had a slightly inverted nipple but it is now fully pulled in and doesn’t come out unless it’s manipulated severely, I gave in to the pain and went to see the doctor on Friday morning, he had a feel and didn’t say whether he’d felt a lump or not but said he’d refer me to the breast clinic and I should get an appointment within 2 weeks, that afternoon the hospital phoned me with an appointment for Monday 28th, trying not to read anything into how quickly the appointment came through but font think you can help but fear the worst, can anyone else describe the pain they felt before they were diagnosed?
Hi Fifipots, I was diagnosed in May and I didn’t have any pain at all. I went to the GP with a lump. She didn’t think it was anything sinister but referred me to the breast clinic - my hospital appointment was 9 days after I saw my doctor.
I understand how frightening the uncertainty and waiting can be, but I wouldn’t read too much into the phone call from the hospital. They are supposed to see you within two weeks, this should be the maximum wait.
Good luck with your appointment.
Take care.
Hello Fifpots,
I am responding to your post which i must say you have come to the right place, good or bad diagnose we are all here to support you.
So pleased you have had a quick responce from hospital
you will be very worried brace yourself for bad news rejoice when good ,
my experience had pain in breast plus discharge from nipple it dosnt mean that it is worse news for a lot of people,
mine is but we all get through it there is a lot of different problems our breast can have.
When i mention painful breast to surgeon he told me BC do not cause pain i have a different opinion.
There is a very good info booklet which is downloadable about painful breast that i have read, i think i found it under info booklets on this site.
You will be very worried for a long time as test and results take a time this is known as the roller coaster ride then the waiting room.
Keep on reading these threads as there is a lot of other ladies with same problem as you this is where we support each other keep on chatting to us.
Take care Pat xx
Hi Fifipots,
Waiting, whether for appointments or test results is horrible. On this forum weve all been there, and your mind will tell you all kinds of things (that arent true!). Also, best not to place an interpretation on them giving you an appointment earlier than you thought. They may just have had a cancellation. You
re doing all the right things, getting yourself checked out. You are doing everything to ensure you have a good outcome, now! Dont be afraid. There`s lots of friendly help and advice here. Think of us as holding your hand in a virtual cyberspace sort of way,
Love,
Mimsy
Thanks for your responses, I’m kind of in limbo for the week now and will keep you posted when I know any more xx
I am so glad that I stumbled onto this website. I have been experiencing breast pain for the past month and though that it was all hormonal since. Well, I went into the doctors office yesterday and she felt a “very small lump” that she “doubts is cancerous” but is sending me to get a diagnostic mammo and ultra sound. When I saw “new lump” written on the orders I really lost it. I have been nervous wreck…hard time eating and sleeping. I am constantly having horrible thoughts about not being able to watch my 15 month old daughter grow up. I am trying to keep busy and stay on POSITIVE websites like this one until my mammo (Dec 5). Once again, thanks for being positive.
Hi Abigailsmomma,
Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care discussion forums. I’m sure other forum users will be along soon to offer support but in the meantime I thought it might be helpful to post a link to the BCC publication ‘Referral to a breast clinic’ just in case you hadn’t seen it:

Please do also remember that the BCC Helpline is there for you if you need information or support, tel 0808 800 6000 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm.
With best wishes,
Anna, BCC Facilitator
