Hi Ladies,
Finished chemo for lobular cancer second time round in December 2011, OOPH, Mastectomy with TRAM recon last June followed by FEC-T (yuk!) just getting my hair and my life back and a week or so ago found a small pea sized rock hard lump under the skin above my recon (so still breast skin but filled with tummy fat) Feels and looks like my last skin recurrences on ultrasound but surgeons being typically non committal and whilst saying it looks like it could be another tumour it could also be a lymph node - my gut feeling is that its tumour number five for me in the same breast (or in this case whats left of my breast) but I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience of local recurrence that turned out to be a lymph node and ok in the end? Clinging onto any hope here I think but I am having to wait two weeks for my results due to the Diamond Jubilee extra bank holiday and I am going crazy here!!!
Also having spoken to my Onc (hypothetically of course) she says if it is then will probably be treated with Xeloda chemo and surgery - anyone got any experience of Xeloda?
Thanks Ladies,
Ruby.xx
Hi
I am in the same situation , I had cancer twice same breast . I was first diagnosed with BC 2009 went through diep chemo, radio, and tamoxifen. Second time small pea size nodule appearrred, I went through rad and tried few hormone treatment who gave me the worst side effect so I decided to stop them.
I went to my check up a month ago everything was ok , then two weeks later red nodules on my skin appeared . I got them checked. they turn out to be cancer again. I am waiting for the CT scan and bone scan to decide on the treatament. The BCN said that some cancer just behave that way nothing we can do but to keep monitoring .
Finger cross it is not anywhere else , it is hard but keep fighting got a life to live !

Hi Mini 20,
I’m sure someone will be along soon to offer support, but in the meantime please do remember that the BCC Helpline can offer information and emotional support if you need it. It will be open again on Monday morning at 9am Tel. 0808 800 6000.
With best wishes,
Anna, BCC Facilitator
Well ladies I may be lucky for once - they reckon its a cyst but are going to remove it anyway, I should be happy but given that last time they told me it was nothing to worry about it was actually another tumour - oh and they found another one in the skin when they did my MX. Dont have a lot of confidence tbh in them. Op on 5th July then waiting again to see if it really is a cyst or something more sinister…I really want to be wrong.
Incidentally my onc says that once its recurred in your skin it does have a habit of coming back and even though we have had all our breast tissue removed there is still a thin layer under your remaining skin, so if a cancer cell is there it can cause a recurrence. The good news is often these are local, although not always.
Good luck to all of you going through it again, and again and again - I am fully aware that mine is just lurking and live my life as best as I can and try not to worry about it too much, easier said than done sometimes I know.

well ruby this is great news, hopefully this is a cyst, why do they keep us waiting so long for these op and then 2 weeks for result, the waiting is hard.thankyou for telling me about recurred even when you have a mx i am not sure what way i am going till i get my result,i hope your op goes well for you on the 5 july.take care.
Ruby very pleased to hear your good news… i dont think that worry ever goes away completely but hopefully in time you will regain a bit of trust in your body… good luck on the 5th!
mini i was also going to say that having an mx doesnt guarantee you wont get bc again… nothing is 100% certain but having an mx does reduce the risk significantly of getting a new or recurrent cancer in the breast but doesnt prevent it from coming back in areas like the skin, nodes, muscle around the breast or further around the body in the bones and organs… when doing an mx they cannot remove 100% of breast tissue so there is always a very small risk you could get a breast recurrence too. fingers crossed for good results xxx
i dont unstand these nodes,i was told my ductal cancer was very small and would not be in the nodes, but after my op i was told that they took 2 nodes and cut them in half and in one half a micro amount,i had signd to have them all taken but they said they dont do that and i have to wait for results in 2 weeks all this waiting i feel i am going mad with worry.I have to asks this and someone tell me do you have chemo if its in 1 node.the breast cancer nurse felt it would be drugs and rads.
Ruby - What good news that it is probably a cyst. Good luck with your op. on 5th.July.
Take care x
