Throat issues…

Hi has anyone had any experience with swelling / sort throat after finishing radio?

For ref I completed 16 rounds of chemo in sept 25 followed by surgery and then 23 rounds of radio to my right breast completing early Feb and currently on with immuno. About a week after radio I started with a sore throat on the right side (same side as issue / treatment) this has been on and off (worse on a morning for 6/7 weeks) Iv not got some swelling in my neck same right hand side. I saw my gp who spoke to oncology team who said they would try get me in for f2f app. I never heard anything so called onco helpline who went through assessment and have told me to go back to my gp. I mentioned it to bc nurse who told em to keep and eye on it… I feel like im being passed from pillar to post and ill I want is for it to be checked and advised is it normal I.e a side affect from radio or immuno? My infection markers aren’t up. I don’t know who to try push for help? I also don’t see my onco anymore just nurses / pharmacists as I am only on immuno.

Hi @kmarie26 Sorry to hear you’re experiencing side effects like this, have you been able to speak to anyone? And has your thyroid been checked regularly while having immunotherapy? When I started immuno in Aug 2023, it was still relatively new for BC and they weren’t really monitoring thyroid levels as they should have been and not really taking it seriously, until I was told by an endocrinologist I have hypothyroidism caused by the immuno  my one suggestion at this point would be the call the nurses through Breast Cancer Now if you haven’t been able to speak to anyone yet, it sounds like something that needs to be checked up as soon as possible, I hope you get seen soon! x
