Hi, I just had a full mastectomy to my right breast. It has been 7 days and I feel tight rope like edging where they stopped removing tissue. Has anyone else experienced this and does it soften up a bit?
I had WLE in Jan and a couple of weeks after my surgery I developed a very hard lump behind my scar - GP put me on anti-biotics which didn’t help, BCNurse told me to stop taking the pills cos it was not infection but scar tissue forming. I still have a lump but it has softened a little bit.
If you are concerned speak with your BC nurse.
I am the same - had WLE in April and still have a hard lump under the scar. Consultant told me not to worry as it is scar tissue and bruising. It is getting a little softer as time goes on. xxx
Hi Ayndi
Like Lilac and Woolly say, it will be scar tissue and inflammation. I had a WLE in February and I can feel now what I would describe as a piece of cord just below where the scar is. It is softer than it was but still pretty tender if I prod it which I must confess, I do from time to time!

Great to read your comments.
WLE 5 wks today and hard, very tender lump developed over this week almost egg shaped. Also seems to be drawing down to my biopsy site. BCN says its normal over the phone. Now keeping me awake, mind you it takes very little to keep me awake at night!
Does it get affected by hormones as my period is due next week and I had always suffered from breast tenderness prior to my period? I awaiting as to what will happen as started tamx this week.
I had a WLE on May 8th, and i also have a hard lump under the scar site. Saw my oncologist on tuesday this week and he said it is normal and not to worry. I am having Radiotherapy, and I don’t know if that is making it more painful, I don’t know - can;t wait to get back to normal - still got 4 weeks of rads, hair still not growing, nails still horrid, will I ever get back to normal??
Sorry to moan, but it all seems to be taking so long - I was diagnosed last November, and I want to be well again by now.
