I already know the answer before I ask this, I think - it’s different for everyone!
But I wondered if there were any patterns to how people felt after their first dose. I felt okayish during actual treatment, just heavy achy arm and a headache (on EC - C causes the headache I was told).
I was then totally slam dunked with dreadful overwhelming fatigue that evening. It had been implied by nurse that side effects occured around day 3, but I felt rather overwhelmed at the end of day 1… Like someone had turned up gravity. I also had tingly achy joints (wrists and ankles) and other odd sensations! Headaches seem to be one of my side effects. Nausea there but low level. Just completely wiped. Barely slept, woke up drenched in sweat three times.
I am tracking symptoms to learn how my body responds as as far as I can tell that’s the only way as we are all different.
Am interested if anyone else felt that dreadful the first evening. I slept much better last night but admittedly had a little cry on waking as it just feels a lot.
No question on here is silly. If you need to ask, then ask.
Yes everyone will react differently to treatment as we are all individuals and come into it from different physical and mental capacity. I had weekly Paclitaxel on a Thursday, side effects of nausea and diarrhoea started that evening. The sleep was awful probably due to steroids. Fatigue and aches were from Saturday.
My main advice is, if it doesn’t feel right then call your helpline and check. Better to get something early. Well done tracking symptoms, easier to check for red flags.
Have you joined the monthly chemo starters thread? This is the link for October, there is one each month so you can share and moan with others starting chemo in the same month as you.
