Hi I’m looking for some support and reassurance from other’s experiences, if anyone can help. I recently found a small, hard lump on my right breast, just behind the nipple. It’s the size and feel of an uncooked grain of rice, but it’s very ‘there’ if you know what I mean. It doesn’t seem to move and feels ‘attached’ if that makes sense. I saw my gp and was very lucky to be seen quickly which I’m so grateful for. She seemed to think the lump is likely to be calcification- I have googled this- probably the worst thing to do, but couldn’t help myself. I just wondered if anyone has had experience of this and whether it was a good outcome?
I had a lump before in the same breast several years ago and had mammogram and US and it turned out to be a cyst which I was so relieved about. But this one feels completely different this time, the cyst (I’ve still got it) is large, soft and moves but seems to get firmer before a period whenever I get a period that is - I’m 48 and at the unpredictable perimenopause stage. I’m also on hrt. Anyway, this time I’m quite anxious about my lump, even though my gp has reassured me not to worry and even though I’ve told my hubby that I’m not concerned(!) I am! But I don’t want to worry him. Anyway, my boob is in agony as I keep prodding it to check if my wee grain of rice is still there and it is. I’m so all over place but trying to keep a lid on it! Any advice or even a kindly word would be helpful thanks so much x
