Tips for not smelling like a bag of FEC??

Phewee, I smell…help!!

 

I’ve just had my final FEC of the FEC -T chemo regime and I’m finding the smell of the chemo is coming out more and more of my pores and the smell is constantly making me gag and becoming unbearable.

 

Does anyone have any tips for getting rid, I’m allergic to scented soap etc so I’m really struggling with this…

Never heard of this se. But I have read people having a heightened sense of smell! Has anyone else noticed it?

Oh Smurf I’m so glad I read this. I thought I was the only one. I had to hold my breath when I went to the loo as I couldn’t stand the smell of my pee! Also, in bed at night I could smell myself. Everyone else said they didn’t notice but I think they were just being kind lol. My cat wouldn’t come near me either. Afraid I cant give any advice. All I can say is it goes away as soon as you stop FEC.

I empathise really do. I felt the same on chemo as my sense of smell went totally out of whack and everything seemed to smell just awful including me. But, I was contently assured by my husband and kids that everything which included me smelled just fine. I found this hard to believe at the time but had to put it down to chemo robbing me of my sense of smell. (amongst other things).

 

I used to sleep with a strong smelling bath bomb from lush at the side of my bed, sounds a bit weird I know lol but this kinda of cut through how bad everything else seemed to smell. Hope you know what I mean?

 

Rest assured. Things quickly come back to normal once your done. Its 11 weeks since my last one and Im enjoying how lovely things smell once again. simple things eh…

Hi Smurf
I felt the same as you. Even my dog wouldn’t come near me for about a week after FEC because of the awful chemical stink. I had first T this week and have had no problems so far & my dog hasn’t left my side this time.

Haha so sorry but I’m sooo pleased it wasn’t just me, going to at the moment is just horrendous so I’m trying pre-empt my pee times and making sure there is a scented candle burning so I can’t smell my own wee!!

Luckily the smell is abating a little bit now (phew…) so hoping it doesn’t make a return for the T of the treatment plan!

Other than that a visit to lush for some ultra smelly bath bombs to be hung from my nose will be on the cards!!
