Titanium markers

Hi. Has anyone travelled with titanium markers in. I wondered if they would set the body scanners off? I’ve got a letter that says “markers were deployed” that I could bring but doesn’t explain what they are. It gives full details of the cancer diagnosis though. Thanks if anyone has knowledge or experience about this.

Me! I asked my team about it before flying. They laughed and said they get that question a lot. Seemingly the type of metal used doeant set of any scanners so youre ok. Must be aimilar to hip/knee replacement material.
Enjoy your holiday

Hi tiamaria
Me too… I’ve flown and I did ask the question to the airline but they said as the marker is the size of a grain of rice then it would not set off the scanner alarms. You should get off and thoroughly enjoy yourself :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I was told that one reason they use titanium is that it’s inert . I’ve been abroad by plane twice since having breast cancer and never had a problem xx

Another one here with markers and no pinging. Titanium doesn’t do that in the scanners.

Others have said the same, but no, the titanium markers don’t set off airport or any other scanners.
Titanium itself does set scanners off (I have 2 titanium knee replacements, so the alarms go off every time at airports) but the amount of titanium used in titanium markers for cancer is too small for airport scanners to pick up, even the full body scanner ones - and they’re not visible to anyone that looks at the full body scans.
(PS I work part-time at an airport…)
