Today my treatment was postponed again and I’m feeling really down about it.
I am only up to 6/12 weeks of pembro/pacli/carboplatin treatment and, so far, my treatment has been delayed 4 times (by a week each time). The first time due to taking antibiotics, the second time due to a rash, the third time due to low neutrophils and this time again due to low neutrophils. I’ve started on growth factor today to boost them, so hopefully that will solve that problem, but I’m becoming increasingly worried about all these delays. I understand delays are common, but I see people talking about 1 or 2 delays in their entire treatment and here I am only up to treatment 6 with 4 weeks of delay under my belt and I’m scared more will follow. I’m really concerned it will affect the outcome.
I have a baby and a 7-year-old and I really want to live to see them grow up but on days like this I feel like the universe is against me.
Is anyone else on Keytruda experiencing so many delays?
I’m also tnbc and have had a few delays plus one weekly infusion skipped altogether. It’s heartbreaking to know how badly we need every drop of this treatment and the worry that comes with anything less aggressive than full treatment on schedule. I’ve done a lot of research and even during the studies like keynote that had such great results patients got sick / blood results were low / side effects were bad etc and treatments were delayed / skipped / reduced in strength. Are you having imaging to see how it’s working? Is your surgery going to be afterwards? I’ve finished the weekly treatments and have one final EC treatment Friday 23rd…. Except my picc line has measured longer than before so I’m supposed to be having that replaced on Tuesday. I can’t imagine ever not being worried about a recurrence but the technology is getting better all the time and the tnbc vaccine is looking really promising so hopefully we just need to hang in there x
