TNBC but weak estrogen positive

I am diagnose with grade 3 cancer cell and very weak estrogen (5%) positive . All others negative. Report did not say I am TNbC. I had lumpectomy and Stage 2 and the lump size is 2.5cm with clear margin and lymph node is clean. My onco has advised on chemo, radio and oral. I am not looking forward to chemo. Has anyone have similar situation and dont need chemo?

Hi Jane-L,

Sorry to see you here, as none of us really want to be here. But it is a great place for support and sharing, which makes it all so mych easier.

You should certainly not be a triple negative if you have a positive ER receptor. And you may cetainly not wish to be a triple negative…

As to your diagnosis, you do not say what type of cancer it is, which may influence the treatment, which could be most relevant to you.

Has your oncolgist discussed with you what the indivdual receptor results mean? ER+5 is not necessarlily weak, as I was told that ER+8 is the top the scale. Being PR- and HER2- should be good news.

Has your oncologist also discussed with you why they are suggesting the treatment and worked with you throught the predictor test. It may help you to understand the relevant reason for the suggested treatment plan.

My cancer was a little larger, Grade 3 and an invasive, but nodes clear. Hence chemo, rads and oral raises my prediction score over 10 years by and additonal 8% over the score without any further treatment - so it was a no-brainer for me.

Chemo is not as challenging for most of us, as one may think - why not explore the monthly chemotherapy threads of June 2016 and July 2016 in depth to see the preparation, tips and tricks, thoughts, and support we share with each other. It may help you to to have a better idea of what chemo can be like and may make you think more positive about you.

I the end - the treatment decision will be yours alone - so discussing it in depth with your oncologist and breast cancer care nurse would be a good route to take, before making your final decision.

Hugs
