Hi there all, just updated my pic. this is 7 weeks after last chemo, i even think i have a curl, just the one mind.
debbie, well done you, i had to check what you wrote wasn’t my writing from yesterday, we both sounded just the same. It feels great to ditch the wig doesnt it. mine is now redundand, no going back for me. Your colour look great, i am just trying to get used to the grey for a while.
Karen, I am 46 in feb, might follow you and have colour for my birthday.
To all of you waiting patiently, hang in there, it does grow and when it does your so pleased you don’t care what colour it is, your just so pleased to have any hair at all.
hi Pauline, your hair looks pretty fab too! im soooooo jealous, but at least its growing and i will soon be looking as lovely as you guys. I bet its warmer in this weather too?
mine is growing at the sides (but not so fast on the top),think this is perhaps to do with the fact that the fec made some hair fall out then tax made the rest and eye lashes, so the fec hair is growing back first, if you know what i mean
my sister dyed her own hair as soon as it was long enough to dye, and it looked great
debbie it is so good to see you on this thread as i was thinkimg of you, did you have a appointment this month?, hope you are doing well
think i have got tiny eyelashes growing, cannot get the brush on them yet, dont think i will be binning the wig yet
thanks for all the advise julie x
Hi Julie, nice to catch up with you again. I did have an appt at the start of November with the Onc and it was brilliant news - no tumour markers in blood and he didnt want to see me again til March PHEW! I had quite a few xrays while I was there (cos of the bone mets) and he said he would only call me back if there looked like any spread and as I havent heard anything I take it they were fine! So very happy as you can imagine. You sound like you are doing well - my eyelashes are longer than before so hang in there xx Best wishes debbie x
hi debbie
that is great news for you, rads nearly done for me, and dont have to go back to hos til may, so onwards and upwards as they say
take care julie x
Hi Debbie and Pauline,
Really comforting for us still going through it to see your hair is coming back thick and fast - roll on next summer then!
Re the sister who started dying her hair as soon as it was long enough - I was told not to dye it for 6 months - anyone else been told that? I hear the vegetable dyes arent always reliable with the colour and can go a funny shade of green on grey hair?
Karen xx
Hi Karen, the six month rule is the same as what my onc recommended but I was sooo grey I couldn’t wait the 6 months so got the veggie dye off the internet - it was called naturtint. (Think Holland & Barrett sell it) Thankfully it did exactly what it said on the tin (lol) and I am delighted with the result. As the hair is still very short I am only washing it about once a week so it should get me through to February when I can put a more permanent colour on. My hairdresser thought it wouldn’t take as well as it did but afterwards thought the product was very good. So, I can only give you the benefit of my experience with it which is all good. All the best, hope this helps, Debbie x
