Told surgery not a possibility

I have been told that my now large breast lump cannot be removed or a mastectomy be performed as it is attached to the muscle in my breast. I have also been informed that the cancer has leaked into my lungs and is also in lymph nodes.
Has anyone knowledge of the cancer being removed from the breast, please ? Either by lump removal or a mastectomy?

If breast cancer spreads to other organs or to the muscles it is what is known as secondary breast cancer, which isn’t curable through surgery. It is treatable though. So luckily you will avoid surgery. Sadly it won’t be something that may be cured so you will have to have treatment instead, via an oncologist. Sorry to hear you have this diagnosis

So sorry you are having deal with this .I think most oncologists do not consider the removal of the breast tumour if the cancer has spread beyond the breast and prefer treatment that treats your whole body to keep it in check . You could also post in the secondary section of the forum for advice and in the Ask the nurses section of the forum . Best wishes Jill x
