Top shower tip for helping keep dressings dry

Well it helped me… so I thought I would share.
As I have had a therapeutic mammoplasty right side and lymph node removal and reduction on the left side.
My consultant has ants the tape on for three weeks and although waterproof I didn’t want to get it too wet. Especially as I have tape round my nipples. So I’ve mostly been having washes at the sink.
I decided today I was going to brave the shower, so I got two white bin bag 50l and opened them, tied one side and wrapped round me and tied it like a bikini top.

It mostly worked. I would say about 90% of the dressing stayed dry, most going down the cleavage.

I’m going to let the bags dry and use them again.

sounds like a plan! ive just been using water wipes for top half but conscious arm pits aren’t going to be as fresh as they should be!

How are you feeling - ive definitely felt a little more sore / pain - not on the breast really (had a therapeutic mammoplasty too) - but more where had sentinel node removed. think may have been over doing it perhaps as have been doing lots of walking (10k steps nearly most days) and inadvertently picking stuff up with left arm. I saw the surgeon a few days ago and she said she wanted to leave dressings on for now - will see her again next week. she is expecting results any day so will get them next week. me being me am expecting the worst - so anything else will be a relief… we shall see.

How are you feeling pain wise?

Did they do your lymph nodes from inside?

I had mine done that way and apparently the pain is things moving back in to place from where they were moved to get to the nodes. I also assume as they did the due they are guided by that and we would have different nodes taken.

I find a support cushion under my arm when laying down helped, and squeezing my hand open and closed and slightly adjusting my position. It was worse one day and the next day it was like it hadn’t happened.

I also thank my body for healing and one pain I have is one less to go.

I have my results on the 29th and not looking forward to them so I’m staying as present as I can.
