I can’t comment on quotes for over 65 year olds but it might be an idea to have a word with your breast cancer nurse (or consultant) to see whether they feel you need to be covered for your breast cancer.
I used to tell companies (was diagnosed in 1995) that although I had breast cancer I didn’t want covering for it but I had made the declaration. I now have secondaries and have been advised by my oncologist that I should have insurance.
Try Freedom Travel Insurance 087077 43760 for a quote - they will insure cancer patients.
I also rang my insurance company who I had an annual European policy was and told them about my operation, chemo and rads etc. They seemed more bothered about my blood pressure and said the cancer wasn’t a problem except it would not be covered and did not increase my premiums at all. About £35 for a year to Europe as far as I remember. I did it on line. We agreed that it was unlikely to be an emergency whilst overseas, whilst being run over by a bus was!!
Try your company and declare everything and see what happens, you might be surprised.
Good luck
Insurance premiums seem to rise dramatically after 65. I declared my BC and was refused by quite a few. You may not need skiing insurance as I do but I am now with a company who cover me worldwide but exclude anything to do with my BC. I have accepted this and just keep my fingers crossed in case I have to cancel a holiday booked 6 months ahead. There is lots of correspondence on this is you do a search.
Which, for a lot of us, it is in more than one site which I really don’t know why that should make a difference. It should be on how you’re feeling not that you might have it in more than one place as I do.
When I contacted them the fact that I’m on long term chemo was deemed not to be ideal.
Mia are the only company that offer a realistic premium for me. I was going to approach Aberdeen but have seen some other posts which say they are stopping offering it come March.

I have a list of companies as long as your arm to contact ( including those given at my hospital ) BUT they don’t mention the magical age of 65 and they all seem to use the phone numbers 0870 ie very expensive !
Good to hear you need skiing insurance ! My holidays are less active but often long haul so I’m very interested that you have worldwide cover. Is it an annual policy ? Will you give me their name etc.?Any help much appreciated.
Just wondering if you have tried Saga or Norwich union insurance maybe more expensive but may cover for BC - I managed to get insurance through Columbus Direct worldwide annual policy but that was a year post mastectomy + reconstruction.
Good luck.
I have taken a worldwide policy for one year with Aberdeen insurance for both my husband and i for £65, and that is including my breast cancer, i have had a lumpectomy, chemo and rads which all finished end of Sept 07, we are age 56 & 57,i phoned them yesterday and received my policy this morning. I found them to be very understanding and not too harsh with their questions, i hope this helps someone who like myself was dreading the experience.
DianeD - sorry I didn’t see you comment sooner. I pay £204.22 for annual worldwide cover including heliskiing and heli rescue. Cover is through P J Hayman & Co - 0845 601 9422. You can try www.skiclubinsurance.co.uk who arranged this for me. Have a great trip. I think the age discrimination is grossly unfair!
Just seen this.I am 64 and husband is 72 we got travel insurance through Fortis[formerly Marrs]for £17.90 for me and £42 for him this was for 2 weeks in Europe in May which will be 1 year after chemo and 11 mnths after rads.I’m triple neg and it would have been a little more if I had been on any tablets eg tamoxifen etc.Good luck,Valx
